Daniel R. Fulkerson

Daniel R. Fulkerson is a native of Boone, North Carolina. He graduated from Watauga High School in 1993. Mr. Fulkerson received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1997. In 2001, Mr. Fulkerson graduated with Honors from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

After graduation, Mr. Fulkerson worked for the Law Firm of Dow, Lohnes & Albertson, PLLC in Washington, D.C., where he was an Associate in the Litigation Department. Once he decided to return to Western North Carolina, Mr. Fulkerson worked for the Clement Law Group in Boone, North Carolina for the year of 2002.

After moving to Hickory in 2003, Mr. Fulkerson accepted a position as an Assistant District Attorney in Catawba County, where he prosecuted cases in Catawba County District Court. After prosecuting thousands of cases, Mr. Fulkerson developed the desire and skills necessary to defend the rights of those charged with criminal offenses.

On July 1st, 2003, he founded the Fulkerson Law Firm, PC. He focuses his trial-oriented practice on the defense of criminal charges, ranging from traffic infractions to serious felonies. He appears in both District and Superior Court on his clients' behalf.

Mr. Fulkerson is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, the Georgia State Bar, the Wisconsin State Bar and the United States Federal Bar. He has appeared in cases in the counties of Catawba, Caldwell, Burke, Iredell, Alexander, Davie, Surry, Watauga, Avery, Ashe, Buncombe, Henderson and Gaston Counties as well as in the Western District of the United States District Court. He has tried cases in the Superior Courts of Catawba, Burke, and Avery Counties.

When Mr. Fulkerson is not defending his client's rights, he enjoys traveling, playing golf and watching almost any sport (especially UNC basketball). He lives in Hickory with his wife and law partner, Jennifer.


Jennifer E. Fulkerson

Jennifer Eaker Fulkerson is a native of Cherryville, North Carolina and is a 1993 graduate of Cherryville High School. Jennifer attended the University of North Carolina - Wilmington on a North Carolina Teaching Fellows scholarship before transferring to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Jennifer received her undergraduate degrees in English and Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Jennifer attended law school at the Cumberland School of Law, Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama where she was a member of the ATLA National Trial Team.

After graduation in 2001, Jennifer returned to North Carolina and clerked for attorney Daniel R. Green, Jr. in Hickory. When Mr. Green was appointed as a Superior Court Judge, Jennifer began practicing with Vanessa B. Hawkins in Hickory. Jennifer and Daniel Fulkerson began Eaker & Fulkerson, PC on March 1st, 2004. Eaker & Fulkerson, PC became The Fulkerson Law Firm, PC in May, 2005.

Jennifer concentrates her practice in the areas of domestic and family law, including but not limited to divorce, child custody, child support and equitable distribution. Jennifer also has a large real estate and juvenile court practice. Jennifer is a member of the North Carolina State Bar and Catawba County Bar Association. Jennifer has experience representing clients throughout the separation and divorce process as well as mediations and trials.

Jennifer lives in Hickory with her husband, Daniel Fulkerson.


Kristi M. Moretz-Icard

Kristi M. Moretz-Icard, Associate of the Firm, concentrates her practice in the areas of residential and commercial real estate law, including but not limited to purchases, refinances, equity line closings, construction loan closings, leases, rights of way, easements and other real property related agreements. Kristi focuses on providing her clients with transactional real estate services that are both timely and thorough. In addition to the practice area of real estate, Kristi also handles various estate matters, including but not limited to wills, durable powers of attorney, health care powers of attorney and some estate administration. Kristi is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, the North Carolina Bar Association, and the Catawba County Bar Association.

Kristi received her law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (J.D. 2008). During law school, Kristi was a judicial extern for The Honorable Judge M. Patricia DeVine of the 15B Judicial District. She attended court with Judge DeVine on a regular basis and researched a wide range of civil, criminal and juvenile issues, as well as drafted court orders. Kristi was also a legal extern at the UNC Forensic Psychiatry Service, where she researched child custody and other family law matters, reviewed court documents, conducted interviews for child custody and parental competency evaluations and drafted child custody evaluation court reports. Throughout law school, Kristi was an active member of the Women in Law Organization and the School of Law sponsored Street Law Program, an education program targeted at local middle and high school students. Kristi was also the recipient of a Eugene Gressman - Daniel H. Pollitt Award for outstanding oral advocacy from the UNC School of Law Holderness Moot Court.

Kristi graduated with Highest Distinction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a minor in Social and Economic Justice (B.A. 2004). As an undergraduate, Kristi was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Academic Honor Society, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and the Golden Key Honor Society, and was an active member of Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology. In addition to studying social and economic justice issues in the classroom, Kristi also participated in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars’ sponsored summer Leadership Forum in Australia, where she studied international diplomacy and government. Throughout her undergraduate career, Kristi volunteered and worked with numerous mental health programs and associations as a community partner, a public policy intern and a mental health advocate. During her time as an intern at The Mental Health Association in North Carolina, she assisted in advocating for mental health parity at the North Carolina State Legislature.

Kristi is a native of Alexander County (Bethlehem), North Carolina and is a 2001 graduate of Alexander Central High School. She currently lives in the Bethlehem Community with her husband, Phil, who is also a native of Alexander County, and their Chihuahua, Lulu.
